A man’s health isn’t just about having six-pack abs because that only shows outer fitness. If inner health is ignored, it can lead to serious problems. That’s why it’s important for men to pay attention to their internal health too and that includes taking care of their testicles.

The health of testicles not only keeps fertility good but can also prevent any serious disease. For example, testicular cancer can also be detected on time. Testicular cancer is rare but it is considered to be the most common cancer in men aged 15–35 years. In such a situation, regular self-examination is very beneficial.

What is the role of testicles in the body?

The testicles are located in the scrotum. The main function of the testicles is to produce sperm and testosterone hormone. These hormones are responsible for the sexual desire of men. Also, it is very important to produce sperm in the right quantity and in the right way because the fertility of men depends on this. In such a situation, it is important to keep the testicles healthy and keep checking them.

If problems like infection (such as epididymitis), varicocele (swollen veins), hydrocele or cancer are detected on time, then treatment becomes easy. Especially the treatment of testicular cancer is successful up to 95% in the initial stage.

Self-examination procedure

1. Choose the right time

When you get out of the bath, the testicles are soft and the skin is relaxed. This is the best time to feel the testicles.

2. Stand in front of the mirror

First of all, look in the mirror and check if there is any swelling or abnormality in the scrotum.

3. Examine each testicle

  • Use both hands. Place the first finger and the middle finger of the palm below the testicle and the thumb on top.
  • Feel for any lump, hardness or irregularity by touching very lightly. You can do this self-examination once every month.

When to contact a doctor?

If you feel any of the following while examining, contact your doctor immediately:

  • A hard or unusual lump
  • Any shape, texture or feeling of heaviness
  • Persistent pain or heaviness
  • Abnormal pressure in the lower abdomen

How to keep testicles healthy?

You can keep your testicles healthy by following some instructions. Like-

  • Keep the testicles and the area around it clean.
  • Always wear clean and dry underwear.
  • Keep checking your testicles yourself.
  • Be careful while having sex and use condoms.
  • Do not smoke and avoid consuming intoxicants.

A man's true health is not just defined by external fitness, but by internal well-being as well. Testicular health plays a vital role in overall male health, fertility, and sexual well-being. Regular self-examination and awareness can help detect serious conditions like testicular cancer early, making successful treatment possible. That’s why every man should make testicular care and self-checks a regular part of his routine because awareness is the key to protection.
